Coen started giving workshops on primary schools. Coen made a few primitive designs which could be easily be handmade by children. On the images the children of de Buutplaats just finished the shade of optic flower
During the Dutch design week i will present Naturalight, OLED light objects defined by nature. (in cooperation with Philips Lumiblade)
I just came back from into the great wide open, a wonderful festival on one of our little islands in the wadden sea (Vlieland). I was asked to create a light installation inspired on the beautiful nature on the island. I found a perfect spot, just outside the forest at the top of a dune. On this top you could see both sides of the island, wind hitting hard against the marram grass, which is the fur of the dunes.

Art+design magazine (China) covered my work in the Global Scan section of their July edition. Unfortunately i can’t read Chinese, i hope they where nice about me!
Coen goes into the great wide open to present a new version of his “optic grass” installation. The installation will be part of the Art trail.
This unique festival on a small island above Hollands mainland named Vlieland takes places on 3 t/m 5 sept 2010.
Optic grass is a light installation where a piece of fiber grass is blended into a lawn. The pictures show a small piece i made for the Summerfestival of Vlaardingen.
Coens is de Art & design studio opgericht door Coen Hoogstraten in de zomer van 2010. Het afgelopen jaar is Coens gegrepen door het licht. Zijn eerste licht objecten presenteerde hij op onder andere de Dutch Design Week (eindhoven), en de Luminale (Frankfurt). Dit najaar wordt de eerste lamp (etree) in eigen productie genomen.
